Y.O.U Underwear
Look good, feel good, do good in Y.O.U Underwear’s soft and stylish underwear.
Pulling on Y.O.U Underwear’s pants and bras is a super simple way to support increasing access to education and employment for vulnerable women and girls. Because for every pair you buy, they donate two to Smalls for All, a charity that distributes underwear to people who need it in Africa and the UK.
A new pair of pants might seem a small thing for most of us in the UK, but it can be life-changing, helping girls complete their education without the need to skip school during their periods. In 2020 alone, Y.O.U Underwear donated over 11,000 pairs and they’re on a mission to hit 23,000 by 2023.
Smalls for All is far from the brand’s only charity partner. They also support the Ajuma Foundation in Kenya, breast cancer charity Future Dreams and Just A Drop, which runs a menstrual hygiene programme in Uganda.
Y.O.U Underwear cares about how their undies are made, too. Materials and manufacturing are as good for people and the planet as possible. Each piece is made from Fairtrade, PETA-approved vegan and 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton at India's leading ethical and sustainable manufacturer, operating under SA8000 social standards.
They’ve gone even greener as a company by partnering with Ecologi to plant a tree for every newsletter sign up.
Impressive stuff, right? Cramming all this positive impact into each pair of their super-soft pants is why Y.O.U Underwear has been crowned the highest-scoring B Corp in the UK. It’s one incredible feat for a small biz, but no surprise given their do-good nature.
Sarah Jordan was working on digital projects in the charity and education sectors until a trip to Uganda in 2016 changed her career path.
While volunteering, she learnt that girls in some local communities were missing school during their periods due to a lack of underwear and sanitary products – up to 12 weeks a year!
It was all the motivation Sarah needed to start building an underwear brand that could give back. Research showed her the problems associated with conventional cotton and the fashion industry, so making Y.O.U Underwear sustainable became a number one priority too.
The first product range launched in 2017 after a crowdfunding campaign and Y.O.U Underwear has been producing purposeful pants ever since.
