Threads of Life
Whether it’s your medical kit or your laptop, carry your valuables in style with Threads of Life’s ethically made cases.
Traditional Nepali fabrics are matched with canvas for cool, colourful and durable designs. But these are much more than just handy accessories – they’re about opening up opportunities to marginalised communities in Nepal.
All Threads of Life diabetes kits and laptop cases are made in Kathmandu, by an ethical manufacturer creating dignified and sustained employment for people on the margins of society.
The benefits for these Nepali makers and their families go beyond steady work and a good wage. Every employee is eligible to receive school scholarships for their children. So, with each Threads of Life purchase, you help fund education for the next generation – a vital step in ending the cycle of poverty.
The Threads of Life team sticks to their commitment to sustainability beyond each sale too, with a two-year repair warranty on all products. If your case needs patching up, send it their way for some TLC.
Fiona Courtman is the textile designer turned social enterprise founder behind Threads of Life. It all started with a single kit bag for her daughter, who has Type 1 diabetes.
Positive feedback from other people living with the condition, who need their essential kit with them at all times, spurred her on to build a brand around these stylish, functional medical cases.
An ethical manufacturing process was as important to Fiona as the look and practicality. This led to the partnership with her Kathmandu-based manufacturer. They’ve been increasing their positive impact in the local community together ever since.
