Islands Chocolate
Islands Chocolate is championing an ethical chocolate industry from their corner of the world – the Caribbean, to be precise.
Ever since their team got to work developing cocoa farming in St Vincent, they’ve been challenging the opaque traceability and shady practices of the mainstream industry.
You can be certain there’s zero child labour, zero deforestation and 100% ethical practices behind the Islands Chocolate range of seed-to-chocolate bars, spreads and hot chocolates.
These products are the fruits of the Saint Vincent Company’s (that’s the business behind the Islands Chocolate brand) efforts to kick start cocoa farming in St Vincent. Nutrient-rich, unused farmland leftover from the island’s once thriving banana trade has made the perfect environment.
Today, the company is the largest agricultural employer on the island. They offer employees wages far higher than Fairtrade recommended rates, as well as career development opportunities.
All Islands Chocolate is crafted with careful precision. Methods and recipes are tweaked to take into account the uber high quality of the cocoa, ensuring the exquisite natural flavours shine through.
Treat yourself or surprise the chocolate fanatics in your life with a bar they’ll love for epic taste and ethical integrity.
Islands Chocolate grew out of the Saint Vincent Company. It was in 2015, when Wilf Marriott took the reins, that they set about refining their own seed-to-chocolate bar.
Wilf knew a certain audience would appreciate the superior quality and ethical production of their cocoa. When the brand was officially launched in 2018, they soon counted notable chefs like Tom Kerridge, Marcus Wearing and Heston Blumenthal among their customers.
Since then, the operation has expanded. There’s a growing list of products and a partnership with a fellow farming collective in the Dominican Republic, allowing them to create more positive impact for farmers in the Caribbean.
