ARTHOUSE Unlimited
Brighten someone’s day by sending them an ARTHOUSE Unlimited card or gift.
This collection of greetings cards, homewares and confectionery is decorated with the utterly unique and beautiful artwork of people in the charity’s social inclusion programme.
Through this programme, ARTHOUSE Unlimited celebrates the artistic talents and skills of adults who live with complex neurodiverse and physical support needs. They run inclusive art sessions led by professional artists six days a week. These are safe, collaborative spaces for the artists to share talents, skills and originality.
The sessions and use of the art on ARTHOUSE Unlimited products help to improve the overall health and wellbeing of these artists in diverse ways. It instils a sense of pride and purpose, which builds self-esteem and helps each artist recognise their individual style and talent.
ARTHOUSE Unlimited also runs a Beneficiary Award scheme. This gives people in the programme developmental and financial support, without affecting personal benefit systems.
Sales of all of their products – from the “fetching” dog-print tea towel, to buttery shortbreads and tea – sustain the charity and help them support more artists.
A trained fine artist, Becky Sheraidah was first wowed by the creative talents of people with complex learning and physical disabilities when working in a residential care home. Yet in this setting, there were few opportunities for individuals to explore these skills, find purpose through art or gain recognition for their unique talents
Becky had the chance to make a difference in this respect when she moved into a role as an art instructor with The Meath Epilepsy Charity. She launched ARTHOUSE Unlimited alongside this in 2005.
From the beginning, her aim has been to create a celebratory environment for people to recognise their own brilliance and to showcase that brilliance to the world, encouraging social inclusion on a wider scale. . Every artist in the programme is embraced, included and accepted.
