Pickled Wild Garlic
Wild garlic buds pickled in organic cider vinegar just before they open at the end of spring.
Discover Fruits of the Forage’s delicious larder of preserves, cordials and pickles, made using fruit and wild plants foraged from the Cheshire countryside and beyond.
This family-run biz celebrates the heritage of British fruits while also championing much-needed sustainable practices for a greener food industry.
They use seasonal, surplus ingredients to craft the Fruits of the Forage range, collecting fruit from people's gardens, hedgerows and farmers fields where they would otherwise be left to rot. Food waste from their kitchen is also thoughtfully dealt with, ending up at a local farm for composting or animal feed.
As the family learnt more about forgotten fruits from Britain’s past, they were inspired to help preserve (excuse the pun…) this heritage. Since 2017, they’ve been busy planting over 2000 native fruit trees in collaboration with farmers, landowners, schools and charities.
This mindful making and planting ethos is creating an impressive impact. In 2023 alone, they saved 9.2 tonnes of food waste, planted 200 native fruit trees and also donated 500kg of chutneys, jams and sauces to food poverty charity Fareshare.
All Fruits of the Forage products are free from added pectin or preservatives. So whether you’re enjoying a chutney with a cheese board or mixing up a cocktail with one of their liqueurs, you can be sure you’re getting an authentic taste of traditional British fruits.
