How these Baskets are made
Made using a mix of seagrass and Palm leaf:
Seagrass is a sustainable natural fiber that is extremely durable and hard-wearing. It is harvested locally by our suppliers and dried before further processing. Seagrass is known for its strength, softness, and silkiness.
The palm leaf is a renewable raw material that is also very robust. This is split, braided and hand-woven into a basket using traditional techniques.
Fair trade benefits to artisans
They are made into favorite parts from natural materials using traditional craftsmanship. The people work under fair conditions and are proud of their craft.
