Island Bakery
Nibble your way through more-ish biscuits from Island Bakery, who bake with the environment in mind.
These biscuits are full of organic ingredients of the finest quality. Island Bakery’s producers skip pesticides and artificial fertilisers, sticking to methods that are kind on the ecosystems around their farms instead.
Indulge knowing they’re free from GMOs, preservatives, palm oil and artificial colours and flavours. Plus, organic ingredients are said to keep more of the good stuff in, like antioxidants and other nutrients.
As well as being mindful of what goes into their biscuits, Island Bakery cares about how they’re baked. They rely on planet-friendly, local renewable energy to power the bakery. Electric comes from a hydro-electric turbine on the neighbouring Tobermory river and a nearby wind turbine, while ovens are heated using local wood chip from Mull’s abundant timber plantations.
With so much goodness in the making, Island Bakery’s biscuits are up there with the most guilt-free of sweet treats. Try them in a selection of our hampers, like the Red Wine and Snack Box and The Chocolate Lover Gift Box.
When Joe and Dawn Reade opened the Island Bakery Delicatessen on Tobermory’s colourful Main Street, they were known on the island for their freshly made bread. But after spotting a gap in the market for tempting organic biscuits, they decided to whip up some of their own that would take a taste of Mull beyond the island.
After the launch of Island Bakery Organics in 2001, the biscuits quickly gained fans, including stockists like judges for the Great Taste and Organic Food awards.
Local renewable energy has powered Joe and Dawn’s biscuit baking since 2012, when they set up shop in a new bakery where they’re still based a decade later.
