Dash Water
Quench your thirst with infused sparkling water by Dash Water, whose refreshing drinks are reducing our food waste problem.
Right now, around 40% of the fruit and veg grown in the UK ends up going to landfill. It’s a huge waste – not just because of the hard work and resources of farmers, but because it means more carbon emissions. Just two reasons our food system needs fixing for people and the planet.
This so-called wonky fruit is the stuff that doesn’t get picked for the supermarket shelf – it might be bent, crushed, curved, knobbly or misshapen. But it’s all about taste over looks for Dash Water and where others see waste, they see potential.
They save misfit raspberries, lemons, peaches and blackcurrants and use them to create their infused sparkling waters. Other than misshapen fruit, Dash Water is simply made of fresh British spring water and bubbles. There are no calories, no sugar, no sweeteners – it’s just like water, but better.
With no plastic used in their packaging, you can enjoy Dash Water from a recycled aluminium can or a glass bottle.
Dash Water founders Jack Scott and Alex Wright both come from farming backgrounds and had seen first-hand how much produce never actually makes it to our plates.
So, when they came to launch their drinks brand, it made absolute sense to them to make the most of surplus fruit. To help make this happen, they partnered with the food waste charity Feedback, which connects them to farmers who have excess supply.
Taste is paramount too. Before launching, Jack and Alex asked Londoners to sample their infusions to see if they could compete with sugary fizzy drinks on flavour. The Dash drinks went down a treat, confirming that they were on to a winning idea with their healthy, natural and planet-friendly soft drinks.
