Give two-presents-in-one this Christmas
16/8/2021
The UK’s leading social enterprise marketplace, Social Supermarket will launch its annual Christmas hamper range on 1st September 2021.
Make your gifting go further this festive season by giving a classic Christmas hamper with an ethical twist. Every item in Social Supermarket’s hampers and gift boxes comes from a purposeful brand, which means that every present you purchase for Christmas gives back too. Choose from a selection of festive tipples, sweet treats and savoury snacks that will continue to have an impact beyond Christmas day.
A total of 26 hampers will be available, which have been named after types of trees and for every two hampers bought, Social Supermarket will plant a tree. From the Crimson King Maple hamper – ideal for the ultimate hosting option, the Sweet Chestnut – a fantastic family-sized option and the Red Berry Rowan – suited to Boxing Day film binges. The Festive Fair Christmas Chocolate Letterbox Gift (so-called because every item comes from a Fairtrade brand) is perfect for a smaller, thoughtful gift that can be delivered with minimal hassle straight through the letterbox. Ranging in price from £15.99 to £269.99, there’s plenty of variety to accommodate all budgets and scenarios.
Every brand stocked at Social Supermarket has a social and/or environmental mission – giving donations to charities, employing those who’d otherwise be marginalised and/or repurposing would-be waste materials. This net positive impact is symbolised on the website through impact icons allocated to each brand, making it easy to choose your cause and see the impact of your gift.
Brands appearing in the hampers include:
- Sea Change: Wines which fund marine conservation projects and take care of the ocean animals that appear on the front of each bottle. The wine brand avoids plastic in its packaging and even uses partial grape waste to create its labels. The brand will introduce half bottles of wine exclusively with Social Supermarket, available in The Red Holly Bush and White Holly Bush Christmas Hampers, £39.99 to buy individually online.
- Toast Ale: An independent craft brewer using surplus, fresh bread to make its IPAs and lagers. 100% of profits go to Feedback, a charity set up to help restructure our food system into a more circular, sustainable model. Toast Ale is included in The Crimson King Maple, The Royal Frost Birch, The Sweet Chestnut, The White Oak, The Craft Beer Collection and more.
- NEMI Teas: A specialist tea company employing refugees and creating organic, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance-certified loose leaf tea and plastic-free tea bags. Gift NEMI Teas by selecting from one of seven Christmas hampers, including The Red Berry Rowan and The Afternoon Christmas Nibbles Hamper.
- Roots & Wings, an organic food brand that supports children’s charities. Their Christmas pudding and Christmas cake appears in several of Social Supermarket’s Christmas hampers.
Aligned with the naming of their hampers, Social Supermarket will also be planting trees this festive season – one tree for every two Christmas hampers bought. This initiative will help support reforestation in areas which have been affected by tree removal.
