Your Christmas shopping gifting hot meals to people in need

26/11/2020

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we should be taking care of each other. That’s why this Black Friday we’ve teamed up with Food For All to help your Christmas shopping go that bit further.

For every £40 spent on socialsupermarket.org between Black Friday on 27th November and 30th November aka Cyber Monday, we’ll provide 8 hot meals to those in need.

So whether you’re purchasing items for your own Christmas table or gifts for loved ones you’re not able to get together with this year, you can feel good about your shop.

The way we see it, that means that your Christmas shopping can give not once, not twice but three times. To the person you’re gifting, to the beneficiaries of the social enterprise you’ve bought from and, last but not least, to the people who will get a hot meal.

Have you heard of Food For All? This London-based food relief charity currently provide some 5,000 hot meals every day via their central London hubs, community centres, food banks and even street outreach and door-to-door deliveries. It might be easy for some to forget that as tough as this year has been for all of us, it has been all the harder for those who sleep rough.

Volunteer coordinator Lawrence Speelman says of our Black Friday partnership:

We at Food For All have been doing all we can to support the most vulnerable people in our society for over 30 years. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year has been an unbelievably tough one for all of us and we have had to step up our operation to support more people than ever before.

For the past 8 months, we have produced thousands of hot meals in our kitchen every day to feed those in need, relying on the support of countless volunteers and generous donations to keep us going. And in the run up to the Holiday season, it is more crucial than ever we can continue to feed the folks out in the cold and with nothing to eat at this time of year.

We are truly grateful for the support the incredible folks at the Social Supermarket are giving us with their campaign. It really makes a difference to us and to all of the people we support every day. Thanks to their support, many more people will get a hot meal to enjoy over the festive period, which is something definitely worth celebrating.
