New Years Resolutions? We've got you covered
5/1/2020
As the dust settles on one of the busiest times of the year and the excesses begin to catch up with us all, minds often turn to what we can do, or how we can live, differently in the New Year.
Whether it’s a commitment to hit the gym harder (or at all), eat more healthy, reduce plastic waste or look after your skin a little better, here at Social Supermarket, we’ve got you covered. Our wide range of wonderful social enterprise brands have a broad set of products which are bound to help you achieve those goals, no matter how lofty!
Below our team have pulled together a list of some of their goals, and the products we love, to give you some inspiration:
Get active!
We all know how important regular exercise is for our health but lets face it, going to the gym isn’t always the most exciting way to do it. So why not pack a bag and head for the great outdoors for a long walk, or a hike, taking in the sights and scenery all around us. The Roll Top Daypacks from Madlug are the perfect size to squeeze all your gear in to keep you going. Or if you are off to the gym, explore their range of gym bags.
And once you get back from that adventure, or pounding the treadmill, we love using the Sport Wash from Good Wash Company; with base notes of Patchouli, it will leave your hair and body cleansed and your soul totally replenished from that workout. What’s more, if youve taken your pooch along with you, they have their woof wash which is perfect for cleaning them as well.
Reduce caffeine!
Coffee powers the modern day workplace but too much isn’t always great for you! So why not try and substitute that morning, midday or afternoon coffee with something decaffeinated. We love the Peppermint Tea from Nemi Teas. The blend harnesses the renowned green freshness of American-grown peppermint but builds upon it with the more intense and darker notes of European and Egyptian mints to make this a refreshing alternative.
If that doesn’t do it, then try these compostable, Nespresso compatible decaf coffee capsules from Sendero coffee. With tasting notes of Grapes & Walnut, this tastes like the real deal without the caffeine.
Lower your environmental impact
Whether its reducing plastic waste or ensuring the products you buy are made in fair conditions, everyone is focussed on reducing their negative social and environmental impact . As you’ll know, all of Social Supermarket’s products have social and environmental at their core, but here are a few which will really help you meet your goals.
Reducing plastic waste is so easy with our friends at Panda Packaging; with their bamboo range of toothbrushes, cutlery and straws you can say goodbye to plastic with ease and ensure whether you’re on the move or at home you can say no to plastic. You can go a step further, and explore the range of Georganic oral healthcare products, including toothpaste, mouthwash and floss, all which are made without plastic.
Every year we waste nearly £10bn worth of food which has an untold impact on our environment. We all work hard to reduce food waste at home, however our friends at Rubies in the Rubble are helping us go one step further by creating delicious relishes and condiments from surplus fruit and veg that would otherwise go to waste. Try their delicious ketchup which is 100% natural and contains 3x the fruit and 1/2 the sugar or the smooth and creamy mayo made with aquafaba, which is the protein-rich water left over from cooking chickpeas which would normally be thrown away.
Beautify yourself!
January is the perfect time to give your skin some TLC and the wonderful UpCircle Beauty are here to help. Their 100% natural skincare range is made using leftover natural ingredients, like used coffee grounds and brewed chai tea spices, to make your skin enjoy the uplifting benefits of nature’s own skin rejuvenators – and do the planet some good, too.
Whether it’s their fantastic coffee body scrub with tangerine, which is perfect for buffing away dry, dead cells, or their cleansing face balm, which gently removes makeup and impurities, they’ve got a product to keep you looking fresh this January.
So whatever your skincare resolution this year, check out their full range here.
From all of us here at Social Supermarket, best of luck with your resolutions no matter what they are. Here’s to making people , and the planet, better in 2020.
